Process Management Overview

To excel, organizations must not only improve their processes but also hold on to and leverage gains. Executives and managers need to look beyond process improvement projects, and understand how to master the methodology needed to manage the process in order to sustain the gains.

Process Management allows you to use process thinking in your work to:

  • View process management as a strategic driver for your business
  • Understand and use standard processes and procedures in doing your work
  • Understand customer requirements and know what to do to meet them
  • Know how to interpret measures to understand how the process is performing
  • Regularly review and act on data about process performance
  • Have Process Owners involved in improving the process' ability to meet customer and organization requirements as part of their daily job responsibility
  • Have Process Owners take responsibility for outcomes

By effectively managing cross-functional processes, you ensure a consistent level of service for customers while enabling your organization to decrease costs and cycle times.

The STAT-A-MATRIX Process Management Model is a five-stage approach that involves:

  • Designing the process management system.
  • Operating and using the system to analyze process performance.
  • Improving the processes where necessary using Lean, DMAIC, and DMADV methods.
  • Sustaining process improvements with effective communication tools.
  • Aligning the process through the usage of change management techniques.

Our Process Management implementation methodology and training materials address the first two stages of the Enterprise Model (Design and Deploy). The other stages are addressed by STAT-A-MATRIX’s Lean Six Sigma and teams offerings.

Designing the Process Management System involves five activities working in concert.

These are:

  • Establish Performance Requirements
  • Document Key Processes
  • Develop Measurement System
  • Create Organizational Roles
  • Implement Enabling Technologies

Deploying the Process Management System examines how to use the Process Management System to monitor and analyze your processes using dashboards and process analysis tools while identifying those that are candidates for improvement.

In conjunction with STAT-A-MATRIX’s Six Sigma offerings, our Process Management methodology gives you an end-to-end set of tools to achieve business excellence. Our methodology includes a customized toolkit that will guide you step-by-step as you design and implement your Process Management system.
